Business Rates & Valuation Ltd – Tribunal Process
At Business Rates & Valuation Ltd, we guide you through the business rate appeal process, which includes four types of appeals, detailed below.
Types of Appeals
For each appeal, we provide a simple, step-by-step guide to help you understand the process before you begin your appeal.
Rateable Value Appeal
Rateable values determine how much you pay in non-domestic rates and are set by the Valuation Office Agency. If you disagree with their decision regarding your rateable value, you may have grounds for an appeal.
Completion Notice Appeal
Completion notices, issued by your local council, specify the date a new or altered property should be added to the rating list. If you think the date is incorrect, you may be eligible to appeal.
Penalty Notice Appeal
The Valuation Office Agency may issue penalties for failing to provide requested information or for submitting false or misleading data. If you believe a penalty was issued in error, you can appeal.
Transitional Certificate Appeal
Transitional certificates, issued by the Valuation Office Agency, reflect rateable values. If you believe the rateable value on the certificate is wrong, you may appeal.
